This is so true. The amount of blatant hatful comments and bullying on this site is pretty sickening at times. I know you can't police what people say, but there is a line between constructive comments and being downright rude or insulting. Before the topic about the contest was deleted, I responded to another user who needlessly brought up another article and they basically said how awful it was. It was downright hurtful and made to make someone feel bad and yet they got away with it, their comment (as well as the article) was just deleted without a second glance, I'm sure.
Sure, I get it, sometimes someone has a bad day or they misread a comment (it is hard to understand tone and intent through reading) but there are a few people whom I can think of that are always rude and impolite all the time. I actually blacklisted a few people because they didn't like an opinion I had over a plastic figure. People actually went so low as to leave horrible comments on my two separate blogs dedicated to when my dog and Chester (the lead singer of Linkin Park) passed away. An amazing singer and one of my beloved pets died and people still felt the need to be heartless and cruel. You know who you are and it's still NOT ok.
I understand your frustration with certain bullies on here, and I hope more steps are taken in the future to stop the blatant hurtful comments. Yes, there is a grey area in terms of comments. Some things that can be offensive to some might not be to others, as things can be subjective, but comments that are made to deliberately put someone down shouldn't be tolerated or glossed over.
