Computer Space Rough DraftComputer Space Rough DraftDiary

Hello MFC!

I've been planning to re-decorate my bedroom and add in a computer desk. I also plan to paint my walls a desired color and finally have a place to set my figures. As well as adding decorations.

I spent weeks planning and editing my rough draft in GIMP. I apologize if it looks sloppy. My whole goal anyways is to see whether I like the set up or not. My main theme is a oriental and floral theme. Main colors used are lavender and a light blue. https://u.cubeupload.com/AMS2000/Table.png Yes, I know humming birds aren't native to Asia.

This is my final result so far. Note the floating shelf is going to be placed higher than that. I set it that way due to lack of space in the image. Anyways, the star of the show is the afromentioned shelf. Myethos Miku is going to be the main centerpiece while she's chilling with her Vsinger friends. Along with a MEDIUM⁵ friend and a Shanghai HENIAN-member friend. :)

Another side note, the thing behind Miku is a silk fan. Thought it would give the figure some background. I want to add design on the fan by learning embroidery. My grandma from my dad's side of the family used to do embroidery during work. Hobbies can pass down from family to family.

I overthink on what design to put on the fan. Previously I was going to do flowers or a garden. But when I tried out my ideas in GIMP, the sculpted flowers on the Miku figure didn't clash well with the designs I thought of. Finally, I came to my conclusion to do a moon. Sometimes simple can mean more.

I had another ambitious idea to add LED lights behind the fan. To make it look like the moon is glowing. Something like this!https://u.cubeupload.com/AMS2000/ba4a768011035ccf03af.jpg

Behind the figures and decorations on the shelf is a sky painting. I'm debating whether to paint the sky in the traditional Chinese way or use another medium. I only have oil pastels at the moment.

The wooden wall you are seeing are traditional Chinese window panels. I'm unsure how I would go about this one. I can probably have some 3D printing service to print out the complex design. It's going to cost a fortune, however.

All the flowers you see here are going to be made of crepe paper. Another creative hobby to try out! The main attraction is the wisteria hanging from the shelf. Not sure how I would place the wisteria branches from their respective wall.

I also gave the mini Chinese Vocaloids each of their representative flower. For context, Hobbymax did a trading figure series featuring Chinese Vocaloids (As mentioned before) wearing traditional clothing while having a floral theme going on. You can find our more on what kind of flower each character has in this poll from feuilgarde's review of the trading figures.

Finally, I will talk about the wall. It was tough deciding what I really want. I obviously wanted a lavender color. I also want to add a floral wallpaper to spice things up. When I added the wallpaper I like in the middle, it didn't seem to clash well with my items and it just looked messy. When I removed the wallpaper, the lavender paint looked more pleasing in my eyes. https://u.cubeupload.com/AMS2000/WithWallpaper.png

I've decided that I could add the wallpaper on the sidewalls. The results don't look too bad. Like a mixture of a little busy, but not too busy.

That is all I have for this project. I will continue on making more blueprints for my bedroom. I want to add a scale and some decorations by my mirror/night stand.

What do you guys think? Do you like what you see so far? What are other things I could improve on?

Credit goes to the owners of these images used in the picture. Especially the Kanna plush, which I took from Tronk's photo. My Kanna unfortunately has a stain on her collar. :(

LittlePisces5 dagar sedan#104074080My apologies for the overdue reply. I'm definitely going with the light idea! Out of curiosity, would the ones that go behind walls be the ones that have the "self-adhesive" tag? This is the first item I saw.
I appreciate your kind comment. :)
No problem, you're welcome.
Well, not exactly. The strips are all self-adhesive. I am talking about this invisible connector en.paulmann.com... . It is a flat and adhesive connector which makes the link between the input and the LED strip. It is only compatible with their MaxLED system (they have several systems).
If you want to read more, here is the blog where I explain everything BLOG #50538 , around the middle of the blog I talk about those connectors.
Hope this will help.

Archiwheel7 dagar sedan#104010429View spoilerHide spoilerThis is a nice project! I prefer your updated version. I liked the 3D window panel idea tho, but it's not simple.
I really encourage you to keep the lighting idea for the shelf, it will be worth it. I even would see it on both the top and the bottom of the shelf.
The hardest part is to hide the wires, or at least keeping them clean looking. But I'm sure you will do it well. Some manufacturers like Paulmann have flat connector strips that you can apply on the wall and paint in the same color. You can even put them BEHIND a wallpaper.
Please post the final result!

Hello everyone! Thank you for the useful criticism. I made a new edit and made some new changes. I unfortunately have to ditch the fan idea and a few other ideas, but that's alright. Here is the image down below. https://u.cubeupload.com/AMS2000/TableNew.png

I thought of an idea of adding in a garden arch and placing the wisteria on top of it. Lookings more pleasing instead of placing the flowers under the shelf. I also changed the background to a purple-ly garden painting. There's a new addition on the table which is a mini garden lantern. I thought the table looked a little bland before.

I might change the wallpaper on the sidewalls. But for now, everything looks fine. Overall, I'm satisfied with these new changes and again thank you guys for helping me out.

MugenTrain8 dagar sedan#103977506Looks great, it would be cool if you had 2 detolfs or something similar on either side of the desk I was actually thinking about adding a shelf on the side. I'm unsure if I have any space though. :( But hopefully maybe I can at least squeeze one on the side if my Ikea table isn't as huge.

iya8 dagar sedan#103977443ooo my room is the same colour. it looks cute! maybe fix the placement of the flowers so it looks a bit more organized? I now edited the image and placed the wisteria on the top instead. It looks less cluttered than before. Nice to meet another lavender-wall person. ^^

EsmeAllan8 dagar sedan#103977436View spoilerHide spoilerWell... I really like it! I love all the different hand-made things you plan to make to create this computer space display. I think the colours go together well and compliment your figures. I'm wondering if maybe some soft white lights on the underside of the floating shelf and behind your flowers would look nice?
Anyways I think it's looking good so far. I'm sure as you start putting this computer space together you'll be able to work out any little details that maybe are a bit harder to totally represent with an image. I think what matters is that you have a really strong idea of what you want to do so you can focus on, well, how you want to go about doing it. :)
Thank you so much! I am thinking about adding lights on the shelf. Now you mention it, digital images don't always translate as well as in real life. Who knows, maybe these ideas will do justice when I see them in person. :)

Nadekocchi8 dagar sedan#103970830It is very pretty but it does look a little messy? It could just be my preference though I made a new edit and admittedly the old picture does look messy. Like everyone pointed out, the placement of the wisteria is in an odd spot.

I now see why garden sites not recommending planting the invasive versions of that plant lol.
