My Sexy Custom Clock + Mini Update Diary [NSFW]My Sexy Custom Clock + Mini Update Diary [NSFW]Diary

Second hand waifus deserve a second chance at laifu!
VeneticaVenetica1 månad sedan
I'm over 18
So initially I had my 1/2 scale Sonico on the floor because she's huge. But quite frankly the available space I had for my books was in the red. Like, sirens going off red. Plus It's hard to appreciate her when the view is from way above, and due to her positioning she isn't intended to be displayed that low. WTF does that have to do with a clock? I'll get to that.

Most of my giants are in this little alcove of my hobby room that just happened to be here when we bought the house. (Fast forward to the end of my video tour to find out what the room used to be for a laugh.) But the truth is that for the longest time, I had them all up front and had all this wasted space in the back. The reason being the shelf above it cast a non-negotiable shadow. Ideally my Sonico should be standing along with them! But I just couldn't figure out a way to make it happen.

Well before I had really even pursued this, I had dedicated a weekend to some quality rearranging time. I was finally ridding my collection of two Insight figures that I truly hate and regret buying, and was selling a few books (the latter mainly in desperation to free up some room for more that are on their way). So it seemed like a great time to re-evaluate the shelves that I had in the alcove, because I have a hard time with shadows there.

I had successfully shortened the space between the top and bottom shelf, so I was using it for shorter figures. It looked great actually. But it only lasted a few weeks, when I decided I had made up my mind and Sonico was going up there. (Jesus I hope it's strong enough to hold all of that weight. These figures are heavy as hell, seriously.) So the second shelf was removed entirely. I happen to be really good at magically making space for the things in my collection, so those figures were redistributed with hardly any trouble.

So here is the thing that is nuts. When we moved into this house, my custom bookcase was brought it in, set down, and I decided where I thought it looked best. I didn't measure a damned thing. It was set in the middle of the wall, just enough to the right so that it didn't get in the way of the closet door and didn't block the outlet. Later on I decided I wanted those shelves there for my sukumizu figures - it just so happened that these 36" shelves fit there with no problem with no cutting. But the craziest thing is that the 9-cube Closetmaid Cubicle fits there PERFECTLY. Like a fucking glove. And that's good, because I damn sure wasn't planning on removing all of my books to move the big guy over.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/06/28/2464147.jpeg
Initially I had the 6-cube there vertically so my Sonico could stand next to it. But now that's she was out of the way, I went full 9-cube. I ordered this thing and picked it up same day, built it, then realized I couldn't fit it without some surgery. So I had to carefully cut out a chunk of the baseboard, lift the cube and slide it in. I want to point out that I did this all by myself without my husband's help. I have my own cute little drill press for custom figure bases - but using a handheld saw is like, scary as fuck to me. But I did it like a boss and I'm proud of that. (Sidenote: Any "we" you see from here on out is him doing all of the work with me standing idly by.)

Anyway, now for the clock. Now that I had my giants arranged how I wanted, removing the shelf made some ugly holes in the wall glaringly obvious. (I had a pic of this but deleted it by accident.) I tried to get Sonico in the middle to obscure them, but it just didn't work and she ended up all the way to the side. So, I thought about how to cover it up. I have plenty of things I can put there. A poster? Shitajiki? Small towel? But it would look weird and random, I think. An idea popped into my head - a CLOCK. I had decided to finally put away the one I had been using in that room earlier (because I never really liked having things in front of my books), and I missed having one.

Well, SURELY there are plenty of ecchi clocks to choose from, right? I have several clocks in my collection but nothing that would fit there. I wanted something that was rectangular, landscape, naughty, and around B5-size. The best candidate I had was one of my Octopath Traveler clocks...but that would hardly fit the theme (plus it's not designed to be on a wall). So I dug through my trusty Suruga-ya, as well as YJA and Mandarake, and was shocked to find that this kind of thing is extremely rare. Here are really the only ones I considered:

View spoilerHide spoilerA Dracu-Riot! clock. A4-sized, which would work but was a little bigger than I wanted. Specifically designed to be hung on the wall. I don't care for the color scheme of this one. But, it's the best candidate of the three.

A Melonbooks clock. About A4-sized but portrait, not landscape which is not ideal. Love the use of space for the clock face, but it's not quite naughty enough because she's wearing panties (and modest ones at that). Plus this isn't designed to go on a wall because it has a stand. Too bad, I really like the artist for this one.

An Angel Club clock. Square, but the sizing is nice at 22 x 22cm. Can be used on the wall. But I don't like how the clock hands obscure the illustration. I much prefer the actual clock face to be in a corner.

There were a few others, but just not what I was looking for. I mentioned my frustration to my husband, who suggested...why don't we just make one? I mean, he made one for himself just a few months ago (a fancy one at that, with blue LEDs and shit). I can't believe this never crossed my mind. Just think, I could pick any image I wanted. And design it exactly how I want. DERP. What a great idea!

I narrowed down the pool to a few requirements. It had to be landscape; high enough resolution to print at (Japanese) B5-size; illustrated in a way with enough space in one of the corners for the clock face; and NSFW, but nothing too explicit (like penetration, masturbating, spread open pussy, etc). Not that I mind any of that, I just think it would look out of place. Preferably nude or fully exposed. I spent some time on a certain 'booru that specializes in high res images looking through at what I could find. I was initially afraid of choice paralysis - but it was a lot harder to find something I liked than I anticipated.

Then I came across the perfect image. I had seen it when it was first uploaded and was just astonished at how beautiful it is. It's an illustration by Rerrere, and is nothing short of a masterpiece. There is ample room to overlay a clock face on both the upper-left and the bottom-right of the image. The original image file is huge. When I converted the size to B5, it came to almost exactly the correct dimensions. It's fucking destiny. I found a simple clock marking template and placed it precisely where I wanted in Photoshop.

The kicker is that we just traded out our inkjet printer for an LED one a few weeks ago. We only ever printed document-type stuff and not photos, so the switch made sense. As much as I hated the old printer (loud and unreliable among other problems), it was high DPI and the fancy LED one isn't. So when I printed it out it didn't look as good as it could have. Oh well - that old printer went to a friend of mine who was happy to print it out for me. I mean, who wouldn't be happy to see her coming out of their printer? (I ended up being impatient and printed out on our printer anyway, but I can always have it printed again later.)

Now for the clock mechanism! Amazon actually failed me for this one, as I needed really short clock hands. But, I found this neat clock shop where I found the perfect size hands and battery-operated mechanism that I wanted. I didn't need anything fancy. I picked a set of hour/minute hands that are slightly ornate since it happened to be the exact lengths that I wanted. I opted for bright shiny brass hands rather than black aluminum, and threw in a "second" hand because I like seeing the precise passage of time.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/06/28/2464133.jpeg https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/06/28/2464134.jpeg
The parts came in faster than anticipated. I had the foresight to throw in two bracket pieces in case we needed them, which it turned out we did. So after work, it was off to the shop. Not a place I particularly like to be, but it wasn't built for someone like me in mind. For the whole process I pretty much just stood there with my phone out occasionally to take pics, and tried not to get in the way. We happened to have a nice big piece of acrylic sheet, so cutting that was up first. It was then I learned out truly nauseating the smell of acrylic is. I've had many acrylic bases on my drill press, but the smell was always tolerable. This stuff was pretty disgusting.

For the frame, we used this aluminum...bracket, or whatever you'd call it. I snapped two pics of this process and backed off pretty quickly, because there were little shards of metal flying around. I wear glasses so I wasn't in any danger. But I'm very protective of my lenses and didn't want to risk scratching them. It was a pretty cool thing to watch though. I specified that I wanted them to be brushed afterwards, so he took them to the grinding wheel. Couldn't get a shot of that at all since he was hugging it pretty closely.

Punching the hole in the acrylic was next. I completely forgot to get a photo of this, probably because of how tight my asshole was watching the process. Acrylic bases sometimes snag while I'm drilling them and rip a chunk out of it. I really, really didn't want that to happen with this. Especially since out of all the potential torture devices in the shop, the drill press is what my husband has injured himself the most on. That thing can suck your hand in and bruise the shit out of you, no matter how safety-conscious you are.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/06/28/2464137.jpeg
She was all ready and framed! We put some "wedging" material in the back to hold the frame in place, as well as some fancy tape in the corners to help hold it together. The mechanism was put into place. We were so close to avoiding this awkward moment that was upon us. My mother-in-law stopped by to drop off some things. We knew she was on the way, but I was hoping to have it done and hidden in the house by the time she came over. She's never given me the impression that she's very fond of my collection (to give you an idea - this is a person who gets offended at "course language"). But at the very least, to her knowledge her son has had no association with my stuff. That was all about to change.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2020/06/28/2464138.jpeg
The clock was upside-down while he was working on it, so it was fine at first. But she noticed the clock mechanism and was naturally curious. Aw fuck. When he finally finished up with the back - and I could tell he was stalling - she said she had been waiting to see the front. That's when all pretense ended. I turned around to her and candidly said, "It's for my hobby room." She said "....Oh. So it's something pornographic." We totally could have left it at that. But my husband turned it around for her to see. She commented that she wasn't anatomically correct. Actually I'm pretty picky about anatomy in drawings and I disagree, but I didn't want to argue. (For the record, it's not pornographic either - but I let that go too.)

With that over with, the hands were set and I brought my new clock into my house. Popped a battery in, set the time, and decided I was at least going to be the one that put it on the wall. Actually...it's because I didn't want to move my figures out of the way, I've moved them enough as it is. And truth be told I don't trust anyone else to put their arms into that alcove with my figures there. I didn't even risk a drill - I hammered those nails the whole way through. The walls are plaster, so there wasn't so much as a rattle. There are benefits to this old ass house.

And here it is! The photos look way better with flash, but I included one without flash to show that the shadow above prevented me from placing it any higher. I love the way it turned out. Tweaking the PSD file was a snap, so I bumped up the brightness a little and added a back glow to the clock markings to make them a little easier to see. I doubt I'll ever be changing this picture, honestly. But it's nice having the option to swap it out with anything I want.

My only real true disappointment...is that the the clock is silent. There is no "tick" sound at all. As much as I adore the digital clock I had in this room before, I lamented not having an analogue clock that I can hear the soft ticking of. I don't know why - I just like it. I had actually sent a message to the Clock Parts shop beforehand asking if the mechanism I wanted had the ticking sound. I never got a response, probably because they knew I wasn't going to like the answer. I had said fuck it and placed the order anyway. It's not a dealbreaker and I'll get over it. It's just a little creepy watching an analogue clock move in silence.

Anyway, I made this video to accompany this blog post. It's mostly a follow-up of the video tour I posted about a year ago.

Talal1 månad sedan#79738406This is fantastic idea . Making something useful from posters or pictures . For sure mine won’t be sexy as this one .
Thank you! I'm glad I didn't end up just putting a plain old print there.

hyenaqueen1 månad sedan#79738613But she's right, its literally not anatomically correct. Look at the arch of the back. Its not possible irl. I like the drawing, it looks nice, but it isn't anatomically correct. Its exaggerated for effect
Heh...well I like to think she's slightly more flexible than I am ;)
