Well today was a first.

Got an item that was destroyed during shipping in mail and this past week got an item that took a roundabout way to get to me and it's getting to where I'm ready to happily cut down on online shopping because I dread the nightmare of getting an item in this condition

https://tyjos84.files.wordpress.com/2020/06/june27th2020box.jpg

Still with everything that's going on have managed to avoid getting items damaged or destroyed with everything that's been bought lately I've only had issues with things getting to me some items taking up to 2 weeks to get through the US postal system [That's just getting stuff from here sellers here and not from overseas] and I haven't had that many nightmare scenarios with USPS over the past decade and the only times I've had problems with them has maybe been one item lost during the past 20 years and a few damaged packages but nothing like this.

It's things like this that make me want to stop online shopping and avoid doing shipping when I sell something after collecting for a long time feels like it's time to get away from being so active with shopping online since this type of thing is what gives me anxiety at times when waiting for packages and dreading that they arrive like this.

The last 2 items added to the collection for the month took about a week longer than they should have to arrive and the package dropped off Tracking to where you might think it was lost but then shows up at a sorting facility and then finally arrived the other day....

What problems have you had with shipping over the past few years?

How many items have you have arrive damaged or destroyed due to postal carriers negligence/shipper negligence with packages?

Collecting shouldn't be something that gives you anxiety but this is one of the main aspects of this hobby that does give me anxiety and I have to wonder how many of you feel that dread when something ships and you pray that it doesn't end up damaged/destroyed during transit....

What shipping nightmares have you had to deal with?

Nothing too bad. One of them got lost, but the seller sent me another one free of charge. Some other stuff was stuck in the warehouse for a little while due to the pandemic, but now it's in my possession.

Japan Post still isn't shipping to the States yet, but the site I bought some stuff from said they're going to try something different to get them to me.

TomTheCat1 månad sedan#79652638Some years ago I ordered ITEM #78681 from Amiami pre-owned. As they always do, they quoted the full price on the paperworks. That's why customs was processed at point of entry (Frankfurt/Germany) instead of delivering it to my local customs office.
That's fine so far. However, they wanted to see what was inside the box. As Native boxes never have windows, they opened not only the shipping box, but the figure box too. That would have been (borderline) fine too.
Now imagine someone doing nothing else but opening boxes all day not figuring out how this particular box would open.
SO THEY RIPPED IT APART TO GET TO THE CONTENTS. They ripped apart the figure box. I can't believe it. It was rated A/B by Amiami, and accordingly pricey already at the time. And I paid my taxes for the fully declared collector's price. But the customs inspection completely destroyed the collector's value. I'm stuck with a loose item now.
When I picked the parcel up at my post office, I had to pay the customs charge to get it. I saw that it had been opened, but I had no way of knowing what was waiting inside. As I had already accepted the parcel, there was no more way to reject it.
During my next visit to my local customs office I asked them about such a situation. They said that customs authorities were not responsible for this, as these procedures are performed by the carrier. On behalf of customs, but still. So there's absolutely nothing I can do about this. I'd really like to meet that particular person who performed this act of vandalism. At least one of us would end up in a coffin, or in a hospital at the very least.
In case you're wondering, I have entirely lost my enthusiasm for this figure. I haven't marked her as owned, and she's resting in a dark cupboard somewhere.

Oh wow what a Nightmare. I would have done everything I could to find that guy who opened my box and ********

I once had a package from china. The supposedly rectangular box arrived in oval shape. Needless to say, the item inside(worth 170$) were damaged.

I didn't have any problems with broken items yet. DHL & Amazon logistics do a good job, but other postal services here in Germany like UPS, GLS or Hermes often don't find my adress. Some packages we're returned because of that.

I've had this problem (delivery driver couldn't find my address/driver left package at the wrong address) before in the USA. With GPS, Google streetview, satellite maps, and all the logistics tech that's out there, how hard can it be to find an address?

If drones can deliver packages, you'd think that all that tech bundled together with human eyes and a brain wouldn't have this problem two decades into the 21st century.

I received 2 packages from Russia, a book and a ceramic mug. Both were packaged in super thin paper mailers with no protective materials. You can imagine the how damage they were when I got them. This was the fault of the sellers. Both who seemed totally stumped as this supposedly never happened to them before. <.< I was livid.
I have been very fortunate with my packages from Japan though. Most shops packed things very well and with lots of padding so I have never had to worry before.

Oh my....that looks even worse than the condition of the UPS box my figure purchase from NY arrived in recently lmao. It looks like they played American football with it! Hopefully the shipping issues will improve soon, at least for a while until pandemic 2 kicks off.
