"Skimpy outfit in winter" is one of my favorite figure themes, and so today we'll be reviewing an newer offering in that area, Skytube's "JK Muicha Imashita". This an 18+ figure, so many of the shots below will be NSFW.
About the character/figure: This figure depicts an original character illustrated by the well-known artist Mataro ENTRY #78327. I assume that this character originally appeared in one of the many dojinshi illustrated by Mataro, but I was unable to track down the source.
This figure was released in September 2019 at a suggested price of 15800 yen.
Skytube uses book-style packaging for many of their 18+ figures, but for this particular figure, they go with a more standard window box.
One side panel features a shot of the figure, and the little bunny-shaped window alludes to one of her optional accessories.
The other side panel features the source artwork for the figure.
The back panel features a conveniently censored illustration of the character.
Skytube fans know that the packaging often features a silhouette of the character somewhere on the package, and here it appears on the top of the box.
Skytube includes two postcards of Mataro's source artwork.
An insert is included which explains how to install the various optional parts of the figure.
The box was quite a bit larger than I expected, given the figure's kneeling pose. The box measures 29 by 25 by 23 cm and the package weighs just over 800 grams, so you might end up paying quite a bit for shipping.
With her kneeling pose, she doesn't really need a base, but Skytube gives her a large base covered with soft and fluffy material. The color scheme matches the cold-weather feel of the figure, but I don't care for these types of bases, as the fluffy material is borderline impossible to clean. Therefore, after taking the photos for this review, I just stashed the base back in the box.
The pose is a simple one, but the figure faithfully recreates the source illustration. Let's have a look at her.
She looks good from a number of angles, and I rather like that last shot above, the way she's peering over her shoulder; therefore, I'd say Skytube did a fine job with the pose of the figure.
I've been really pleased with the overall quality of Skytube figures released during the last couple of years, and JK-san continues that trend. She has a couple of small flaws, but she also has a number of interesting features to compensate.
One of the best things about this figure is her cute face! I like the way her bangs hang in her face, and given the...activity...she might be engaging in, the subtle blush is perfectly in character.
I also like her little smile, and her purple eyes are very pretty. I must confess that I find the combination of slightly dorky but cute irresistible, and the character definitely gives off that vibe.
Her hair has a lot of texture!
As we'll see, the front piece of her bangs can be removed to swap in an alternate face plate, but her slightly-messy hairstyle helps conceal the seam where that piece lifts off. Also, the tear-shaped hair clips are a key feature of the figure's design.
Her hair is much longer than I thought it was! They her hair interweaves with the various layers of her scarf makes for a rather ambitious sculpt, and note the color gradient in her hair.
She has a fairly large chest, and the way she's got her sweater pulled up really draws attention to it.
The blue and white bow contrasts with the blacks and greys of the rest of her outfit. If you're being picky, you might notice that the bow is one chunk of material, while in reality it would have two layers of material.
Her bra is extremely detailed. The creases in the cups suggests a stretchy material, and note the intricate clover pattern of the trim.
Some white paint transferred from somewhere onto her sleeve.
I like how the scarf and her skirt are two slightly different types of plaid. Also note the ribbed trim around the bottom of her sweater.
The stocking tops are fairly plain, but that is the way they look in the source illustration.
Black tights/stockings are kind of a thing right now, and Skytube did a really nice job with the shading on her stockings - they are not just a boring flat black. Also, note how you can see the stockings bunching up a little bit around her knees and ankles.
One thing I like about many of Skytube's newer releases is that they often have lots of display options and accessories, and JK-san is no exception.
She comes with an alternate faceplate, and it is installed by removing the front piece of her bangs.
The alternate face swaps the little smile for a more embarrassed look.
The alternate face looks fine, and given the masturbation theme of the figure, it makes sense that she might be apprehensive about an onlooker seeing what she is doing, but I prefer that smiling face, so that's what we'll use for the rest of the review.
Additionally, there is an alternate bare chest part that can be swapped in. As you can see, the chest pieces just lift off, although a little finesse is needed to navigate the parts around the bow on her outfit.
Her breasts are large (but not gigantic), and their shape is perky enough.
From some angles, her breasts maybe look a little round and balloon-y, but perhaps I'm just being overly picky.
The fit of the chest pieces is pretty good; there are no large gaps in the underboob area.
She also has an alternate skirt part, and she separates at the waist to allow the removal of the skirt. IMO, this is almost always a better option than having a big ugly seam on the skirt parts.
I thought that she might be able to be displayed with no skirt at all, but this is not the case; the skirt pieces have a little lip, meaning the torso pieces will not flush with one another. Additionally, her shirt is supposed to be tucked into her skirt, so she is clearly not meant to be displayed sans skirt.
Note the detailed trim on her pink panties.
The alternate skirt part has the skirt riding up a little bit, thereby showing off more of her backside.
The panties can also be removed if you are so inclined. Note the seam there.
Removing the panties is a simple matter. Just pop open that large tab.
No barbie finish here. Her lady parts are very detailed, and Skytube sculpts her anus as well.
The two skirt parts and the panties/nopan option gives a number of interesting display options. I've chosen to display my figure in the configuration below, with the longer skirt part and in nopan mode.
I'm partial to this option since the skirt is just long enough to make it not completely clear whether or not she is wearing any panties from most angles.
Skytube also includes an optional part to make it look like she's hastily removed her panties. It took a little trial and error (and looking at the instructions and some photos of the figure) to figure out exactly how the optional panty part was supposed to be situated...
Here she is in nopan mode with the alternate skirt part.
Skytube definitely did a good job sculpting her butt; very peach-shaped :).
Alternate angle shot.
The source art seems to suggest that she was outside on a cold day when she spontaneously decided to indulge in a little self-love. She also apparently had her trusty vibrator with her.
Note the heart-shaped button on there. It looks to be a pretty simple sexy toy-just off and on, I guess.
The wires on the vibrator are actually plastic coated metal wires, so they can be easily bent into your preferred shape. The bear head and the rabbit attach to the wires. Westerners sometimes scratch their heads when they see these cutesy designs of Japanese sex toys, but Japan has a whole host of obscenity laws (sometimes differing wildly between prefectures), and making adult toys that do not resemble body parts allows the items to be sold as just "regular" toys/novelties.
If you remove the bear/rabbit, then the wire can be inserted into a small hole down there, making it appear that the toy is in use.
I prefer the smiling face, as it makes it look like she's enjoying her happy self-fun time.
I was wondering if she could be displayed with the vibe inserted and her panties on, and the answer is...sort of. With the wire there, I could not get the tab on her panties to close all the way. Maybe I could have forced the matter and gotten the tab fully closed, but I did not want to risk damaging any parts of the figure.
With her kneeling pose, the figure is about 6.25 inches (16 cm) in height, and if she were standing, it looks like she would be about 10.5 inches (26.7) tall. 1/6 scale would make her 5'3" (160 cm), which seems just about right.
I like how these two complement one another, with the kneeling poses and their little smiles. Max Factory's Tamaki Kousaka ITEM #13587 is a very large 1/6 scale for comparison.
These two also make a good pair, as I get the impression that while neither of them is innocent to be sure, they both give off an air of being not all that experienced. Native's Shoujo S ITEM #25420 is 1/7 scale.
I wish there were more scarved figures :). Alter's Muse of Range Murata ITEM #186018 is also 1/6 scale.
These two make an interesting pair, as JK-san seems rather meek while Rocket Boy's Slingshot Girl ITEM #464771 gives off a much more aggressive vibe. Slingshot Girl is 1/6 scale.
In the last year or so, there has been a steady stream of figures based on Mataro's designs. Here she is with another excellent Skytube Mataro offering ITEM #740091. Baseball Girl is also 1/6 scale.
These two have much in common including their hair and eye color, the "skimpy clothing in winter" theme, the scarves, and they both have a certain adorkable charm. Daiki's Kurara-chan ITEM #604642 is 1/6 scale.
Overall verdict and enjoyment----------9.5/10
Arguments for: Mataro's designs translate IMO very well into 3D, lots of display options from mildly NSFW to full-on 18+, overall good quality.
Arguments against: Not many, really. I don't care for the fluffy base, and because of the large size of the base, the packaging ends up being quite a bit larger than it probably needs to be.
Overall, Skytube has once again delivered a really nice figure, and if you like Mataro's designs, this one would be well worth picking up. Once this damn pandemic starts winding down, I'm very much looking forward to the release of her warm-weather counterpart, Daiki's ITEM #908270.
Availability (as of this writing)
Easy to find pre-owned.
This figure seems fairly easy to source pre-owned, but don't expect any steep pre-owned discounts. The original price of this figure was 15800 yen, and as I write this, Mandarake has several of these for sale ranging in price from 18000 to 25000 (!) yen. Keep in mind that the large and heavy box might make shipping more expensive than expected, too.
