How much is too much?

A few days ago I was glad to pay both my orders for Dec 2019. Low and behold a few days after I shell out close to a grand I get a notification e-mail that the figurines in question will be delayed. Big surprise there I say to myself.

Almost everything I ordered this year has had delays. Some more than others but here is the kicker I am not made of money and I do not think that 99 % of us are. Maybe a few are well off and can afford to pay and then get told Oh you have to wait another month only to get another e-mail the month later stating you have to wait yet another month.

I have 191400 Yen paid up front now for items which keep on being delayed and every month that comes I get more requests to pay for items which I am positive will be delayed. This means I have an ever growing amount of money tied up for absolutely nothing . It's holding thin air as the release dates are not being respected. I have to say by no fault of the seller but if the seller would wait a few extra days before requesting a payment they could know that a product will be delayed and the payment could be requested the month after.

What got me going on this rant per say is as I mentioned on Dec 2 I was requested to pay for my December orders. About 3 days later and e-mail came in that said there was a delay on 2 of the figurines (that total 47900 Yen) have now been moved to 30th of April 2020. That is $ 600.00 in my currency and is now sleeping in a company's bank account instead of being in my account. I actually asked them for a refund of that payment as we are talking a delay of 5 months before they come out. I am not sure if I shot myself in the foot or not with this move but somewhere something has to give. At least that is my 2 cents on the matter Money does not grow on trees.

What do you the readers think about this? Have you had this happen a lot lately and gotten tire of money requests when you are 90 % positive the item will have a delay ?

I look forward to comments below Good or bad give me your opinion your insight in this matter. I will be glad to read the comments as they come in.

So first of all you need to state what items and what store you're buying from. Some manufacturers like Alter are notorious for delays but they don't take payments since they are a manufacturer and not a store.

As many have stated, NY! is notorious for its delays and you would be best to find another store.

NO major store demands advanced payment; never has AmiAmi or 1999 asked for payment without the item ready to ship.

How is that going did they close your account? Or did they understand and acknowledge that you are correct in not paying .

well I send them email , and I will tell them that I paid so far for certain number of figures and you company is delaying immediately my order after receiving my payment , there for I request kindly to cancel my upcoming order payment till I get some of my payed figures .
they cant close my account when they have more than 7 figures paid off and delayed for another 4 months to 6 months . beside that do I really care if they close my account ?? hobby search band my account after doing a business with them for many years i was going through hard time , and guess what I started to do business with amiami and nippon Yasan . customers will never lose especially when you are the man or a woman with cash . one more point if I cancel 2 or 3 figures out of 10 orders I am still a very good customer .

You need to stop using NipponYaSan, it is a shady and unethical shop. Go to AmiAmi or Native shop directly. I encourage everyone else to stop using NipponYaSan as well after hearing so much horror stories. Just a few months ago another person had his ~$300 pre-order randomly canceled by NYS, and NYS immediately relisted the item for ~$400; obviously done so NYS can milk extra cash.

Right now, with yorokonde i have this issue sort of.. i dunno but it still says order processed but they send me a pay reminder? Was supposed to be combined and i have no idea if it is combined :/ so i opened a dispute so they will reply, not a case yet as i want to give em a fair chance to explain and then i keep the orders. But most likely i lose the 3 orders and wont order again.

I dont pay upfront, only with this item which was on inquiry, i had to... and so i did but also not too long before the release of the other item so that in worst case i got paypal.. sadly i actually have to use it :( would wish i could avoid this ...

If i were you, i wouldnt be ok with this. Its the reason i dont order with nippon yasan unless its like nowhere to get but even then i really consider aftersales over ordering there

They won’t do much until maybe your 10th cancellation. I never asked them I just let the order go unpaid. If you contact them they will say it’s their policy and they need to collect the money regardless of a delay so don’t bother.

I treat preorders like a slow cooker. Put money in the account, place the order, and forget all about it until I get a notice that it's being shipped. (THAT'S when I start counting days and feeling frustration! I'm not completely immune!) I try not to even look at the release date - try being the key word.

My figures are all bought/pre-ordered from local stores.
So they don't ask for payment until the item is in stock in their physical store.
I also saved up entire payment required far before the actual figure release, so I wouldn't have any problem later on.

Talal8 månader sedan#71507611You are talking about Nippon Yassan , well I don’t care how delay it gets as long I didn’t pay anything for downpayment . I started to check for the figures release date .if they it is going to delay more than I won’t pay Nippon Yassan . I started to hate this company . I am trying to make order from companies that they don’t ask for payment till phically the figure available In their store .

Eccmy8 månader sedan#71469698I pre-ordered ITEM #783704 at Hobby Search.
Wanted to pay her on the date of release, aka December 4th.
Go the answer a few hours later, chose a shipping option and asked for payment on December 5th, 5:00 AM Hour of Japan.
Hobby Search obliged a few hours later, and gave me the shipment's tracking number yesterday 6th. Checking the tracking on JP Post, I confirm it's in "Posting/Collection" mode since the 6th, 10:11 PM Hour of Japan.
So yeah, the Erza Orca bunnies definitely have been released.

Thank for the Update will look to see if my store releases them on Monday or Tuesday.
