BiJ forwarding with Suruga-yaBiJ forwarding with Suruga-ya

Hello MFC.

I thought i may share what i know, it worked for me so far so good. Please feel free to correct me!

First off, go shop at Surugaya and instert the form like this:

http://img5.fotos-hochladen.net/uploads/surus2gzq0tn1b.png

Also the adress field again quoted from Miisi:

1. Last name (姓) in Kanji then First name (名) in Kanji
below you do the same but in Katakana
2.(Not sure what everyone does for their name.)
3. Post code (郵便番号) is 111-0043 (You can click '郵便番号検索' next to it and it should fill out the prefecture and city for you.)
4. Prefecture (都道府県) is 東京都
5. City(市区町村)is 台東区駒形
6. Street number (番地) is 2-5-6 ( Remember the hyphens.)
7. Apartment/building name (アパート名・建物名) would be カミナガビル5F
8. Phone number (電話番号) is 03-5830-3276
9. Enter your e-mail address then retype it again below.

Surugaya will send you a order conformation and will also notify you that they check the stock. If it happens that anything is out of stock, you need to answer them that you still want you order in japanese (to be safe). I used google translator for everything and it worked.

They will send you a shipping notification with tracking number which you track at trackings.post.... .

Then after you got shipping notification, buy your BIJ forwarding ticket and list the contents in the comment box.

When BiJ get's your package they will send you a invoice and you pay and they ship it. They also mark the value down if you want / need.

Now to some questions which i had:

Do they speak english?

They do! I just contacted them in english because i missed one part and they were very nice and will send it to me! :D

How much does Suruga-ya domestic shipping cost?

It's free above 1500 Yen.

I can't use paypal!

I had that case before. As people told me, if you have +18 items in your basket you have to pay with credit card. (Which is sort of stupid because paypal is just usable "normally" at 18+)

What if my package is to big? I don't want EMS. ;; Will BiJ split it into 2 SAL?

BiJ answered: A split is possible but please note that depending on the contents, it's not necessarily cost-worthy for you.

If it fits into unreg. SAL does the value matter, like if people buy from your site unreg. sal is only possible for orders under 5000 yen.

BiJ: For forwarding, you can use any shipping method regardless of total value.

If i understand correctly, i do order from a shop and then buy the forwarding ticket. Do i need to contact you by email or something and give you a list what i have orderd and from where so you know what my package is?

BiJ: In order to inform us of the contents of what you are forwarding, please use the Comments box of the ticket order.

Do you repackage only or i.e. exclude the box from a figure if asked for that? Does your frowarding service still work for surugaya?

BiJ: We only repackage if we are asked or if the original box is in too poor a condition to be used internationally. Some customers have trouble ordering from Suruga-ya, but some do manage it, so I guess the best way is to try.

How fast does BiJ ship my order?

Took about a bit more than a week for me, but they first could not identify my order.
Also quote from HIDAN (thank you) btw.
If you choose a registered shipping method then BiJ will ship your packet ASAP,the same day you pay the invoice but if you paid for SAL then they are sloooow to ship your package. To me it is not a big deal
but maybe others find this a bit irritating.

I've been charged twice by suru / my order was cancelled.

I can only speak from my personal experience again. I've also been charged twice by suru, but when they shipped, they noticed that and cancelled that.

Aswell as having the item from my order out of stock. They'll cancel your order but it takes a while to cancel the payment. But since they only authorize the payment and only finally charge it, when it's shipped, you don't have to worry to much.

What if my order is maybe to big for SAL?

Update: Suru changed their packing to shrink wraping everything on a cardboad like HLJ does a while ago. Since it is now always a gamble how big the suru box is, i always write in adavance "Please split the boxes if it doesn't fit SAL." That will be 500 ¥ forwarding each box and 500 ¥ repackaging fee.

I personally would always ask for splitting the box into several. It's may not a lot of saved money, but chances it'll pass the cutoms is higher. Though that's my own experience.

But i will quote HIDAN 's experience for that:
Even when you have a 16.000 yen order you can choose unreg SAL if it is UNDER 2 kg. It is up to you. BiJ will only change the shipping method you choose if it does not fit the SAL or Airmail regulations (too big-over 90 cm,too heavy-over 2kg). If this happens then BiJ will automatically change the shipping method, they won't ask you for permission! You have to be careful not to order BIG stuff or heavy stuff or just pray that Surugaya does not use HUGE box for your tiny order that is nor SAL-able. (already happened to me!You cannot control this, you need luck)

After they make the invoce they won't change it! You either choose "original packaging" or pay for "repackaging"(but if your packages are heavy this makes ZERO sense). You will know if your package is SALable or not AFTER BiJ received it and sent your invoice. So it is a gamble.
You do not know heavy your package is. You will get free shipping from Surugaya and they give you only a tracking number. All you can do is make an estimate at home, check MFC how heavy the keychains, mugs, poster, manga etc what you are ordering. You can add 500-700 gr for the Surugaya box and paper-yes, ouch on this heavy boxes. Sometimes Surugaya use a LOT of newspaper especially if you are ordering figures but the other times they are like Amazon, they superglue your together wrapped stuff onto the box's bottom. Because of the heavy Surugaya box I recommend you to be very careful with your first order, it is very easy to go over 2 kg and then you won't get your stuff cheap anymore because of the shipping even when you do not pay tax. I do not recommend to pay for repackaging to change the heavy Surugaya box, because BiJ will keep all the unnecessary papers inside your surugaya box so your package won't be that much lighter and you already paid 500 yen repackaging fee too.. not worth it!

zum Beispiel:
You order something from Surugaya.
You get a Forwarding Ticket from BiJ and choose "original packaging" and SAL.
BiJ receive your package from Surugaya.
BiJ send you the invoice with the shipping cost+500 yen+ PayPal using fee
... until now everything was OK... NOW you will get your surprise or not:
You will see in the invoice that BiJ sent you how heavy your package.
Two variations:
1.Your package is under 2 kg. ----super! you pay your cheap unreg. SAL+ 500 yen+ PayPal using fee
2.Your package is not SAL-able it is for example 2,1 kg---- ShiT you have to pay for SAL Parcel... 5000 yen+ 500 yen+ PayPal using fee.

What about repackaging?

Also quote HIDAN:

I have more than 15 original boxes from Surugaya and I still have them (with the newspapers still inside, I will upload pictures later because it is so funny how much paper they use and then sometimes they send the boxes without any paper) so I really can compare all of them to other shops! Usually their boxes are around 400-500 gr. Once I had a 700 gr. package with a lot of newspaper inside. Twice I got small packages like 300-350 gr., I ordered small items, straps, postcards, one coin figures. I had a B2 poster shipped in a big box instead of a tube.

Sorry but even if you pay extra 500 yen for repackaging it doesn't mean you will get your stuff cheaper! I know, I try to always aim for cheap stuff. We live in the EU and suffering from high tax and looong custom procedures and the only way to get something cheap and painless is using SAL and undervalue the package. So if I tell you it is not worth to buy 500 yen for repackaging fee I mean it. There is only one case it is good: if you order from at least 2 different shop small items then you can combine them and instead of paying 3 times SAL you pay only once. Then it is perfect using the repackaging option!
If your package is under 2 kg, then you can use the cheap SAL anyway so why pay for repackaging? If your package is over 2kg then you will pay a LOT for shipping anyway and if you even pay extra for repackaging is like you are ripped off! You will be angry in the end for sure.
BiJ considers Surugaya's packaging shitty. You can ask takson because takson spoke with BiJ about this matter. My experience was the same thought. I told you before that I had to pay 7000 yen for shipping, and when I got my repackaged box it was extremely FULL with newspaper... if they have used less paper then ... then.. then I am sure it would be under 2 kg.. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ So in my case BiJ actually made my package heavier by repackaging it! damnit.. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻

I have to tell you that Surugaya does a nonsense shitty packaging but I never got from them broken stuff. Everything was always in one piece! Mugs, posters, figures and so on, you don't have to worry about damage during shipping but I have to tell you too that Surugaya did sent me the wrong items two times already and my Konoe item #3230 has only one ear..
but the worst thing what Surugaya did to me was this :Surugaya took 12.000 yen from my debit card but didn't shipped my stuff and later cancelled my order. I have an european debit card and I cannot do a chargeback. I guess shit happens. My bank does not help me at all to get my money back and Surugaya simply does not care. You have to be aware if something goes wrong... then you can also loose money like me. And Surugaya did this again to me... I am crying soooo hard, they charged my card TWICE for ONE order (are they crazy???)then canceled once charge but they still did not shipped my order and I paid for it...more than two weeks gone by, my money is taken again and already in Japan, I asked my bank again... that means I will probably loose money again. I just don't understand I do the same ordering process again and again and sometimes they took my money without giving me my stuff sometimes not. If I cannot get my 20.000 yen (two paid but never shipped order) back from them this month I think I will stop ordering from them in this lifetime! This is soo much money for me I feel sick to think about it that they just scammed me/ripped me off, this huge and honest (?!) and trustworthy (!?) japanese company called Surugaya... so sad :(

And i will quote TAKSON:
As for BiJ Repackaging, the following is the weight breakdown for a repacked Surugaya order of mine.

Items Only - 1139 grams
Box - 497.6 grams
Bubblewrap - 38.6 grams
Packing Paper - 207.4 grams

_____

My Second Package:
Items were 692 g, Box + packaging 338 g. Pics in my Album. :3

I hope this helps!

moonscapes (3 år sedan) #12110599Thank you for replying. I have another quick question. I ordered my first figure from Surugaya on Saturday and used PayPal. When I confirmed my payment on PayPal it went back to the Surugaya website and it showed the guy bowing down and it said "please try again". My money is gone, but I don't know if the order counted

I don't know. Ask in the suru thread club/72/discuss...

moonscapes (3 år sedan) #11972475Oh okay, but what happens if you buy it and the item is out of stock and you cancel the order? Will it only count if the item is actually sent?
Thank you.

I dont know, i never had that happen. If you are unsure just buy it when suru ships your order.

moonscapes (3 år sedan) #11968027I know this is a stupid question, but just to make sure. Do you buy the ticket of Big in Japan after suruga-ya has sent a notification that whatever you want to buy is in stock? It doesn't matter. You can buy when they sent it out or before.

yuuichisan (3 år sedan) #6161010Do you know how long Surugaya usually takes to ship? I made my first order on the 20th, and hasn't shipped yet. The status is 受付済;下記内容にて商品の注文を受け付けました。which translates to "Acceptance settled
We have accepted the order of items in the following contents."
Does that mean they've already confirmed the stock and are preparing to ship? Should I wait for them to ship first before buying my BiJ forwarding ticket?
Sorry for the questions ^^;

It usually takes now 2-3 weeks till they sent out. You can buy before or after. Doesn't matter for BiJ
