Farewell Red IKEA Ugly Boxes...Farewell Red IKEA Ugly Boxes...Misc

Back in May 2010, seeking a way to better organize my figures' packaging, I bought a few large LINGO boxes at IKEA. They were ugly, but they got the job done very nicely. Here are a couple pics I had taken after I had put them to use:

I liked them so much that later, I ended up buying more.

However, earlier this year, I moved cross-country, and not all of the boxes managed to survive. Some of the more beat-up ones were thrown out, and others were repurposed for different storage needs.

Now, once again, the closet in the office is a mess thanks in part to figure boxes, so another visit to IKEA was in order (these weren't the only things I had to buy there, but it was the main reason for the trip). I got a total of six boxes today, but also learned that the red patterned ones have been discontinued! They aren't on the website anymore, but my local store had a few left for half-price-- $3.99 for each set of two! I bought four of these (two sets), and two of the regular priced blue boxes.

I've recommended these LINGO boxes here in the past, but if you can find them at your local IKEA, the red ones are now a steal! However, I'm sad to see them go, since they were the least ugly of the available options...

Have you considered collasping the boxes that don't have plastic on the inside? The smaller boxes for like gashapon and such would then store flat and give you more space for the other boxes.

That's a good idea. :) I might have to try that with my own boxes.

mikki-maluDo you mostly keep there small boxes like for prize figures and gashapons?
More like a mix of everything-- prize figures, scaled ones, Play Arts, Revoltech, gashapon/trading figures, etc.

I thought these boxes were too thin and soft to stack them one on one though I use smaller size for storing papers. But actually it looks like a good idea :) Do you mostly keep there small boxes like for prize figures and gashapons?

wally503I have a few Ikea boxes myself, but I'm always afraid of having stuff eat at my boxes slowly, so I get plastic bins once in a while (not to mention I can always use them for something else later.

Did the boxes inside those IKEA boxes survive? I hope they didn't take damage.

My figure boxes tend to live in closets, on top of shelves, etc. instead of in an attic or garage, so I generally haven't been too worried about damage to them. I do try to use desiccant packets whenever possible to keep moisture out, though.

I packed all my figures in regular moving boxes for the move, so they got here fine (in turn, the ugly boxes were used for other things). Though they're great for everyday storage, I don't trust LINGO boxes that much ;)

About this blog

I don't write blog posts here as often as I should, but at least I'm writing at all!

Posts here generally concern figures and other collectables. For reviews, I often like to highlight items which may have gone overlooked, or are otherwise interesting. In general, I strive for high-quality posts above all else.

I also maintain a blog here which is mostly about video games, and sometimes about manga and anime.
